Iowa Dental Advocacy for Professional and Personal Thriving: IADAPT
|
IDA is pleased to introduce and offer the Iowa Dental Advocacy for Professional and Personal Thriving (IADAPT) program for Iowa dentists.
The ADA recently published that 82% of dentists feel major stress in their careers. You or a colleague are likely impacted by this. In response, the IADAPT program has been designed to provide Iowa dentists with a free, confidential service that integrates executive coaching and therapy. The program will also include opportunities for mental health education as we get further into 2025.
Please take a moment to watch this video to learn what IADAPT is all about:
Program Details
Each year the IADAPT program will provide all Iowa dentists three free one-hour coaching / therapy sessions with a licensed provider from Flowstate Health. All your interactions with your coach/therapist will be confidential, and the professional organizations underwriting this program will not know who uses the service. If you decide to continue working with your coach/therapist after the three free sessions, he or she can continue to provide services under your private insurance or on a cash basis.
The three free therapy/coaching sessions are designed to be:
- Completely confidential
- Tailored to the unique needs of Iowa dentists
- Flexible scheduling and "after hours" availability
- Iowa-based, licensed, and credentialed providers
IADAPT is now taking appointments with availability beginning on January 2, 2025. To schedule, contact the IADAPT scheduling team (iadapt@flowstate.health or call/text 515-443-1840).
If you feel you are currently in crisis, please call 988 immediately
Therapy vs. Coaching
Both coaching and therapy are goal-based processes that use overlapping techniques to help you grow and improve your quality of life. IADAPT’s licensed providers are Iowa-based, fully credentialed and equipped to assist dentists with a wide scope of issues. Whether you’re looking for an executive coach to help you tackle workplace concerns or a professional counselor to help you cope with depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, substance use disorders, or suicidal thoughts, IADAPT is here to help!
What are Some Topics You Might Discuss During a Session?
If you feel unsure about what you might talk about in one of these sessions, these are some examples of broad topics that could be addressed:
- I want to make a change but I feel stuck.
- I feel bad about an interpersonal interaction I had or continue to have.
- I am in a dilemma about a choice I need to make.
- I feel overwhelmed and don't remember the last time I felt relaxed.
What Can You Expect to get out of These Sessions?
You don’t have to be unwell to benefit from mental health care. Sometimes it’s about finding new ways to manage everyday stressors, like balancing your work life with your home life or handling workplace conflict. You can expect to derive benefits like:
- Increased mental clarity about the problem(s).
- Feeling safer about sharing thoughts and feelings with a coach/therapist.
- A sense of relief or unburdening.
- Feeling validated and understood.
- A list of next steps that would be constructive and achievable.
- Recognizing that you have support for the challenges you face.
- Feeling more hopeful about solving problems or improving things.
These benefits usually start happening in the very first session. Please consider reaching out to IADAPT if you believe this program could be a positive resource for you. We’re here for you!
